(Richmond, VA)  VCU Women’s Head Coach Beth O’Boyle became the winningest coach in VCU History on Wednesday as she got her 186th win as the VCU Rams defeated the Saint Joesph’s Hawks 59-48. The Hawks came into this matchup as the top team in the A-10 as they were undefeated on the road with a 13-1 A-10 record. Sarah Te-Biasu led the Rams with 16 points while Laura Ziegler led the Hawks with 13. 


Mary-Anna Asare’s jumper and Timaya Lewis-Eutsey’s driving layup put the Rams up 4-0 with 8:42 remaining in the 1st quarter. The Hawks countered with a 6-0 run to take a 2-point lead with 4:34 remaining in the 1st quarter. Samantha Robinson’s jumper tied the game (6-6 with 3:25 remaining). Chole Welch hit 2 consecutive 3-pointers to give the Hawks a 6-point lead (12-6, 2:14 remaining). The Hawks maintained their 6-point lead until Mary-Anna Asare’s 3-pointer with 1:10 remaining to cut the Hawks lead to 3. Saint Joesph’s led 15-12 at the end of the 1st Quarter. 


Julia Nystrom scored with 8:30 remaining in the 2nd quarter to give the Hawks a 17-12 lead. Sara Te-Biasu layup cut the Hawks lead to 1 (22-21, 6:04 remaining). Laura Ziegler 3 3-pointer capped a 10-0 run for the Hawks as they led 32-21 with 1:35 remaining in the 2nd quarter. The Rams went scoreless for over 4 minutes until Jennifer Ezeh's layup with 56 seconds cut the Hawks lead to 9 (32-23). Chole Welch's buzzer-beating jumper capped a 14-2 run for the Hawks as they led 36-23 at halftime. 


Tayla Brugler’s layup with 8:56 remaining in the 3rd quarter was the only field goal made by the Hawks in the 3rd quarter as they led 38-25. Jennifer Ezeh connected on 2 free throws to cap a 13-0 lead to tie the game 38 with 3:23 remaining in the 3rd quarter. Gabby Casey hit two free throws to put the Hawks up 40-38. Mary-Anna Asare’s layup and two free throws by Sara Te-Biasu put the Rams up 42-40 at the end of the 3rd quarter. The Hawks went 1/16 from the field in the 3rd quarter and shot 6.3 % from the field in the 3rd quarter. 


Laura Ziegler's layup tied the game at 42 to start the 4th quarter. Sara Te-Biasu scored on 2 consecutive field goals to put the Rams up 46-42.  Laura Ziegler's layup with 3:40 remaining in the 4th cut the Rams lead to 2 (50-48). The Rams closed the game on a 9-0 run as they won 59-48. The Rams (23-4, 12-3 A-10) will hit the road as they face La Salle on Saturday. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 pm.

(RICHMOND, VA) The VCU Rams suffered their 1st home loss of the season to the Richmond Spiders 65-58. Sarah Te-Biasu led the Rams with 25 Points, while Grace Townsend led the Spiders with 23 points. 


Timaya Lewis-Eutsey layup with 4:04 remaining in the 1st quarter put the Rams up 8-0. Addie Budnik put the Spiders on the scoreboard with 3:48 remaining in the 1st quarter. Timaya Lewis-Eutsey's 3-pointer gave the Rams their largest lead (12) as they led 17-5 (1:24 remaining in the 1st quarter). Rams ended the 1st quarter leading 19-7. The Spiders started the 2nd quarter on a 7-0 run as they reduced the Rams lead to 5 (19-14, 6:39 remaining in the 2nd quarter). Sarah Te-Biasu’s 3-pointer put the Rams up 27-21 at halftime.


The 3rd quarter saw the Rams maintaining their lead. Maggie Doogan's 3-pointer with 2:04 in the 3rd quarter decreased the Rams lead to 2 (35-33). Sara Te-Biasu’s off-the-glass layup with 3.4 seconds left put the Rams up 41-35 to end the 3rd quarter. Grace Townsend hit 2/2 free throws to put the Spiders up 45-44 (8:10 remaining in the 4th quarter). The Rams took their final lead of the game as Jennifer Ezeh scored on a spinning layup (51-50, 5:05 remaining in the 4th quarter). In the final 3 minutes of the game, the Spiders connected on all 8 free-throw attempts as the Spiders went on to win 65-58. 


The Rams (21-4,10-3 A10) will head on the road as they face Umass on Saturday, February 17th. The tip-off is scheduled for 1 PM.

(Richmond, VA) Following a 64-51 win over Duquesne on Wednesday, VCU Women's Basketball hit the court Sunday afternoon as they faced the George Washington Revolutionaries. Led by Timaya Lewis-Eutsey’s 15 points the Rams defeated George Washington 71-51 and remain undefeated at home.. Essence Brown lead the Revolutionaries with 13 points. 


The Rams connected on all 4 of their field goals to start the game as they led 9-2 (7:32 remaining 1st quarter). Mykel Parham’s layup capped a 10-0 run (4:00 remaining 1st Quarter) as the Rams led 19-4. George Washington’s Nya Robertson lay up at the end of the 1st Quarter as the Rams led by 14 (24-10). 


 Mary-Anna Asare's jumper with 7:35 remaining in the 2nd quarter put the Rams up by 22 (VCU 34-12). The Revolutionaries went on a 7-0 run as they cut the lead to 15 (VCU 34-19 with 4:14 remaining 2nd quarter). The Rams countered with a  Mary-Anna Asare 3-pointer to cap a 6-0 run as the Rams led 40-19. The Rams went into halftime leading 42-24. 


In the 3rd quarter, the Rams increased their lead to 20 as Mykel Parham’s jumper put the Rams up 44-24 with 8:50 remaining. Mary-Anna Asare's jumper with 3:33 in the 3rd quarter gave the Rams a 53-29 lead. The Rams lead 57-33 heading into the 4th quarter. 


Sarah Te-Biasu’s 3-pointer capped a 6-0 run for the Rams as they led 68-40 (5:50 remaining in the 4th quarter). Deniz Torgut's layup with 4:52 remaining gave the Rams their biggest lead of the day as they led 71-40. George Washington finished the game on an 11-0 run to cut the lead to 20 as the Rams won 71-51. 


The Rams (19-3, 8-2 A10 ) will hit the road as they face Saint Louis on Wednesday, February 7th. Tip-off is scheduled for Noon.
