(RICHMOND, VA) After falling on the road to George Mason on Sunday the Women’s Rams returned to the Siegel Center on Wednesday as they faced Duquesne Dukes. Wednesday's game was Educational Day as students and faculty of various schools in the Richmond area packed out the Siegle Center (5,324 in attendance). The record crowd saw the Rams win 64-51. Sara Te-Biasu led the Rams with 26 Points & Amaya Hamilton led the Dukes with 14 Points. 


Sara Te-Biasu's 3-pointer with 8:01 remaining in the 1st Quarter put the Rams up 9-2. The Dukes responded as Amaya Hamilton hit a pair of 3-pointers to cut the Rams lead (11-10, with 3:06 remaining in the 1st quarter). Following the 6-0 run by the Dukes, Lucia Sotelo's layup extended the Ram's lead. Timaya Lewis-Eutsey's jumper with 57 seconds in the 1st quarter put the Rams up 15-12 heading into the 2nd quarter. 


Megan McConnell's 3-pointer in the 1st  minute of the 2nd quarter tied the game at 15. Jerni Kiaku hit 1 of 2 free throws as the Dukes took their 1st lead of the game (16-15, 8:15 remaining in the 2nd quarter). With 6:15 remaining in the 2nd quarter with the game tied 18-18, Sara Te-Biasu & Mary-Anna Asare connected on a pair of 3-pointers apiece to put the Rams up 24-18. Precious Johnson's jumper put the Dukes within 2 (24-22 3:01 remaining). Samantha Robinson’s layup with 15 seconds left capped a Rams 8-0 run as the Rams led 30-22 at halftime. 


Duquesne’s Naelle Bernard's layup in the opening seconds of the 3rd quarter cut the Rams lead to 3. Precious Johnson's layup with 3:24 left in the 3rd quarter got the Dukes within 2 points (35-33, 03:24 left in the 3rd quarter). Jerni Kiaku’s layup with 57 seconds left in the 3rd quarter cut the Ram's lead to 1 to close out the quarter. 


Jerni Kiaku’s layup in the first minute of the 4th quarter put the Dukes up 38-37. Kiaku's layup with 8:13 remaining in the 4th quarter gave the Dukes a 42-40 lead. Samantha Robinson and Sara Te-Biasu, who scored 12 of her 26 points in the 4th quarter helped spearhead the Ram's 9-0 run as the Rams led by 7 with 5:13 remaining in the 4th quarter. Te-Biasu hit 3 of her 7 3-pointers in the final 4 minutes as the Rams held on to win 64-51. 


The Rams (18-3, 7-2 A10) will face George Washington at home on Sunday, February 4th. The tip-off for the game is scheduled for 1 pm.

(RICHMOND, VA) VCU captured its 4th consecutive win on Tuesday night as they defeated the Loyola Chicago Ramblers 74-67. VCU was without their 3rd leading scorer Zeb Jackson for the 2nd consecutive game with back spams. Joe Bamisile led the Rams with 25 points & Dame Adelekun led the Ramblers with 14 points. This matchup had 11 lead changes and 5 ties. 



The Ramblers got on the board first with Miles Rubin’s layup with 18:33 remaining in the 1st half. Kuany Kuany tied the game 25 seconds later. VCU went on a 7-0 powered by a 3-pointer from Joe Bamisile to put the Rams up 9-4 with 15:02 remaining in the half. Christian Fermin’s dunk capped VCU's 6-0 Run to give the Rams a 19-13 lead with/ 11:34 remaining in the 1st half. The Rambler struck back on a 6-0 run to cut the Rams lead to 3 (26-23, 8:10 remaining). Dame Adelekun's layup and jumper put the Ramblers up 30-28 (6:14 remaining). The Ramblers extended their lead to 6 (36-30:30 seconds left in the 1st Half). Joe Bamisile hit a 3-pointer with 1 second left to cut the Ramblers lead as they led 36-33 at halftime. 


Kuany Kuany's 3-pointer with 15:42 remaining in the 2nd half put the Rams up 40-39. Rams defense held the Ramblers to 33% shooting in the 2nd half. VCU went on a 13-1 Run to give the Rams a 67-55 lead with 3:41 remaining. Loyola went on an 8-0 run to cut the Rams lead to 4, as the Rams led 67-63 with 1:14 left. The Rams converted on 7-of-8 free throws in the final minute to secure a 74-67 win.

(RICHMOND, VA) VCU Women's Rams defeated the La Salle Explorers 66-50  to capture their 16th win and remain undefeated at the Siegel Center this season. Timaya Lewis-Eutsey led VCU with a career-high 22 points & 11 rebounds, while Makayla Miller led La Salle with 16 points. 


The Explorers jumped to an early lead as Makayla Miller on a  3-point play (FG followed by free throw) in the first 4 seconds to give La Salle a 3-0 lead. Mykel Parham & Timaya Lewis-Eutsey's field goals put the Rams up 4-3. The Explorers had their biggest lead as they led by 6 (15-9, 1:14 remaining 1st quarter). Grace Hutson's 3-pointer & Timaya Lewis-Eutsey’s FG in the final minute of the 1st quarter reduced La Salle’s lead to 1 (15-14) at the end of the 1st quarter. 


Lucia Sotelo connected on 1 of 2 free throws to tie the game 15-15 to start the 2nd quarter. Amber Bullard's layup put the Explorers up 21-19. Mary-Anna Asare's jumper put the Rams up by 1 point (24-23, 2:38 remaining). The Explorers score 5 points in the final minutes to take a 28-24 lead going into halftime. 


The Explorers added to their lead to start the 3rd quarter. Sarah Te-Biasu was the story in the 3rd quarter as she scored 13 points in the 3rd quarter.  Sarah’s 3-pointer with 6:32 remaining in the 3rd quarter gave the Rams a  35-32 lead.  The Rams expanded the lead to 13 (50-37, .35 remaining)  as Mykel Parham's layup ended the 3rd quarter on an 8-0 run. 


The Rams had their biggest lead as they led by 17 points (56-39, 8:28 remaining). VCU held their double-digit lead during the 4th quarter until Molly Masciantonio's layup with 3:24 remaining as the Explorers were within 9 points (59-50 VCU). The Rams scored the final 7 points & won 66-50.
